Fremantle rising star Hayden Young has suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter of their round six clash against St Kilda and will play no further part in the match.

Young’s right ankle appeared to be crunched underneath a pile on in a tackle within the first half of the opening term.

In a further blow for the Dockers, ruckman Sean Darcy has also copped a heavy knock to the head and is in doubt for the rest of the match.

Fifth-gamer Young left the field in the hands of the trainer and received medical attention for the rest of the quarter.

Young made his debut in round two against Brisbane and has played every game since.

Taken with pick seven in last year’s draft, the Victorian has impressed at top level, going a long way to cementing his position in Fremantle’s best 22 despite only being in his first year.

The injury compounded a difficult start for the Dockers, with a red-hot St Kilda bagging seven goals inside the first quarter.

The fast start saw Freo concede their highest-ever first quarter total in 37 games against St Kilda - in a short quarter, no less.

The clash is Fremantle’s last game in the Gold Coast hub, with the team flying home after this afternoon’s match.

The club is yet to provide an update on the extent of Young’s injury, with the 19-year-old failing to return to the field before the first break.

Several radio reports have confirmed he will play no further part in the match and he’s since been pictured on the bench in his tracksuit top, indicating his day is done.

Meanwhile back-up ruckman Rory Lobb appears to have injured his left foot, adding further to Fremantle’s injury woes after Darcy’s head clash.

Justin Longmuir’s men showed incredible fight to reduce the half-time deficit to 13-points, winning the quarter by 23-points despite the huge injury toll.
