A pair of Perth Youtube pranksters who managed to sneak into the AFL grand final said when they got through the gates at Optus Stadium they thought “we might as well watch the footy and have a beer”.

Two days ago, Seb and Will from misfitminds posted a video titled Sneaking into Australia’s Biggest Event.

In the five-minute clip, the pair revealed their “step-by-step” process of how they managed to get into the Perth AFL grand final without buying a $450 ticket.

The pair filmed themselves buying high-vis shirts from Big W and coloured wristbands from Officeworks before scoping out the stadium and then executing their master plan.

The pair confidently wheeled trolleys past security and through the gates, before ditching their disguises, buying a beer and watching the premiership decider between the Melbourne Demons and Western Bulldogs.

“We definitely didn’t think we were going to get in,” Seb said on 6PR this morning.

“We didn’t plan too far ahead and then once we got in, we were overwhelmed and thought ‘while we we’re here, we might as well watch the footy and have a beer’.”

The pranskters said they expected to get some blow-back from their stunt, after more than 100,000 people willing to pay the hefty price tag for a grand final ticket were denied the chance, but said they “meant no harm, we caused no harm”.

“We were just there to watch the footy, really,” he said.

An Optus Stadium spokesperson said they were aware of the footage and the “matter is is under investigation jointly with WA Police”.

However, the duo said authorities are yet to contact them and said because they were waved through by security, they’re hoping they won’t face criminal charges.

“Quite a few people are saying we might be okay, because we got waved through and we didn’t actually lie to anyone or pretend to be a point of authority that we weren’t, they let us in,” Seb said. “So hopefully, fingers crossed, we’ll be okay.”

The Perth prankster put the success of the stunt down to “a little bit of confidence and just right place, right time.”

He said misfitminds were new to the scene but would continue to make Youtube videos.

The grand final prank is already their most-watched content, surpassing 16,000 views in just 48 hours.
