A young autistic and non-verbal child who went missing yesterday and spent last night outdoors in horrendous weather conditions has been found alive and well.
Norman Krakouer — who was wearing only a pair of shorts when he went missing in Mount Claremont — was reportedly found wandering on Davies Road about 9am Sunday morning.
It’s understood a resident took him inside and immediately contacted police.
Many locals had braved terrible wet and windy weather on Saturday night to join police and SES in the search for the 11-year-old.
Police had urged the public to help and they did, joining a big contingent of officers to search the suburb with efforts concentrated around Lake Claremont throughout the night.
That large-scale search continued on Sunday morning, with SES volunteers joining police on foot and horseback as well as desperate members of the public.
It’s believed Norman went missing from near a house in Lantana Avenue.
Norman is known to frequent playgrounds and climb trees.
Police had asked people not to approach the boy if they saw him but rather call police immediately, because the young boy has difficulty communicating and is likely to run away from strangers.
A search command post was set up at Claremont Showground.
