The arson squad is investigating a fire that destroyed a Bentley home following reports of an “explosion” on Sunday.

Firefighters were called to the single-storey property on Stannard Street after a triple-0 caller claimed to have heard an explosion and alarm shortly after 11.35am.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the entire house was engulfed in flames before the roof collapsed.

Police on Monday said nobody was missing inside the burning home after safety concerns prevented an initial search of the building by firefighters.

It was initially feared one person was unaccounted for.
