Vegan activist Tash Peterson has opened up about why she decided to start an OnlyFans profile as she takes to Melbourne’s streets in nothing but lingerie to protest animal rights.

Stripped down to powder blue lingerie sets, Peterson was joined by fellow animal rights advocates and Insta-friends Stefania Ferrario and Adriana Lava as they turned heads outside David Jones in Bourke St Mall.

“Animals don’t have a choice, but you do. Go vegan!” read one of the signs held above their heads.

“Breaking news! Meat is not oxygen, you can live without!” another read.

Ms Peterson revealed on her OnlyFans account that she had never worn lingerie until last year and only started the account to help her become a full-time rights activist.

Known to cause a stir, the girls were expecting to receive some backlash over their activism but were taken aback by what actually happened.

“The amount of disgusting messages and comments I have received about these images is insane,” Peterson wrote in an Instagram story addressed to her 19.6k Instagram followers on her @vganbootyy page.

“Wish I could share, but it just gets taken down.”

The 28-year-old revealed some of the foul language left in her comments section and sent privately to her direct messages.

“I received comments saying I had a penis, looked like a drag, ugly, no shape, a whore etc,” she continued.

“To that I say thank you, keep being obsessed! These words aren’t even insults to me but can be hurtful to other people.”

The vegan activist has become known for her eye-catching and at times graphic protests that typically feature faux blood, lingerie and disfigured animal props.

In June, she took to Bourke St Mall, again with Ms Ferrario, wearing nothing but nude briefs, nipple covers and carrying a stuffed toy that resembled a baby lamb covered in blood.

She and partner Jack Higgs moved from Western Australia in June after she was banned from all licensed venues following one of her controversial protests.

She announced the move on her Instagram saying she was “getting the f**k out of WA”.
