Sentenced prisoner Jeremy Anthony Lucas extends imprisonment with “serious” criminal damage charge

Just one day after being imprisoned for drug offences, a Bunbury man has extended his sentence for taking an axe to what he thought was his co-accused car.

Jeremy Anthony Lucas, 46, appeared in Busselton Magistrates Court on Tuesday via video link from Bunbury Regional Prison to face sentencing on a total of fives charges, but most significantly one count of criminal damage which the magistrate deemed a “serious example” of this kind of offending.

On Tuesday May 24, Lucas made his way to the East Bunbury home of his associate, the co-accused of the drug charges for which he appeared in District Court for on Monday, armed with a small axe.

Upon discovering his associate did not want to “talk”, Lucas proceeded to smash the rear window and door of the car in the driveway of the property, which he assumed belonged the man, but in reality was the property of the victim’s mother.

The other charges included three counts of breaching a community restraining order and one count of possessing a prohibited drug (methylamphetamine).

Lucas was issued a one month prison sentence for the criminal damage charge, on top of the 22 month District Court sentence he was already serving for drug offences, with an additional “global” fine of $1000 issued for the remaining charges.
