Bunbury has joined Australia’s longest electric vehicle network as the 30th member with the opening of a WA EV Network fast charger.

The charger — located at the Cobblestone Drive car park near Blair Street — features a 150kW fast-charger, which can fully charge electric vehicles in about 20 minutes.

The car park also features a 75kW fast-charger.

The charger’s location means EV drivers can now travel along the coast from Northampton to Albany smoothly, stopping at regular fast-chargers along the way as part of the State Government’s highly-touted network.

When completed later this year, the network is expected to feature 49 EV charging sites, averaging less than 200km apart.

Energy and Climate Action Minister Reece Whitby said the chargers are apart of Labor’s environmental policy.

“By easing range anxiety for EV drivers, the Cook Government is helping reduce carbon emissions and putting WA closer to achieving net zero emissions by 2050,” he said.

Bunbury MLA Don Punch said he’s thrilled Bunbury has been included in the network.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for our city to be part of what will be the biggest EV charging network in the world, making it easier for EV drivers to explore our wonderful State,” he said.
