Senior constable charged with misconduct after allegedly escorting daughter through Qld border checkpoint

A senior Queensland police constable will face misconduct charges in court after he allegedly escorted his daughter across the border from NSW despite her not having a valid pass.

The officer, 55, has been suspended following the alleged September 15 incident at the Gold Coast border checkpoint, and is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 18.

A 20-year-old woman allegedly involved in the matter - widely reported to be the man’s daughter - has been issued with penalty infringement notices and remains in hotel quarantine.

Queensland Police said an internal investigation was also underway into the matter.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct,” police said.

“This does not mean the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.”
