Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, was left “alarmed” by a demand made by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the lead-up to the couple’s wedding.
Allegations made by a royal biographer claim the disgraced former prince “persuaded” a company to film the Windsor Castle wedding in October of 2018 after no major network agreed to cover it, The Mirror reports.
In his book Queen Elizabeth II A Personal History, royal biographer Hugo Vickers, writes that Mr Brooksbank became “alarmed” when Mr Mountbatten-Windsor “insisted” on a procession through Windsor.
“On 12 October 2018 Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in St George’s Chapel. This was a happier wedding,” Mr Vickers writes in the book.
“It did not attract as much publicity, and the Duke of York was annoyed that it would not be filmed for the major networks, though he persuaded a company to record it.
“The groom was alarmed that Prince Andrew insisted on a procession through Windsor, afraid that no one would be there to cheer them. But Windsor loves a procession and there was a good crowd.”
The claim comes amid uncertainty surrounding the role of Princess Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice in the future of the royal family.
Their future was thrown into doubt in the wake of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest over suspicion of misconduct in public office and ties to convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein.
The disgraced former prince has maintained his innocence.
It has recently been reported Sarah Ferguson, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s ex wife and the mother to Eugenie and Beatrice, went into hiding to protect her children from scrutiny tied to Epstein.
The former Duchess of York broke cover publicly for the first time in four months last week when she was photographed outside a wellness clinic in Austria.
Her exit from the public eye followed the release of the Epstein files, which mentioned both Ms Ferguson and Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s relationship to the convicted sex trafficker.
