Major roads in Perth’s CBD will be closed this weekend, as runners take over the city for the 2026 HBF Run for a Reason on Sunday, May 24.
Sections of several roads, including Kwinana Freeway, Adelaide Terrace, Hay Street, Murray Street, St Georges Terrace, and Riverside Drive will be closed from 4am on Sunday morning, and William Street will be closed from 11pm on Saturday evening.
The closures will also affect parts of Orrong Road, Victoria Park Drive, and Roger McKay Drive to the east and Hackett Drive at UWA.
There will also be parking restrictions in place along the running courses, as well as tow-away zones.
Motorists travelling south on the Freeway from north of the river will be required to detour along Graham Farmer Freeway onto Canning Highway, and reconnect to Kwinana Freeway at Canning Bridge.
Some sections of St Georges Terrace/Adelaide Terrace westbound, Riverside Drive, and Wellington Street will be open to traffic with detours.
“Anyone looking to head to the city over the weekend is urged to plan their trip in advance, while participants and volunteers are reminded they get free public transport on event day until 3pm,” event organisers said.
All road closures are expected to be lifted by approximately 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
Organisers have also warned there will be “some noise” as the start line and while event infrastructure is constructed from 11pm on Saturday evening, on William Street and the corners of Hay and Murray streets.
