Neo-Nazi Joel Davis to make fourth bail application over alleged message urging MP’s ‘rhetorical rape’

Neo-Nazi Joel Davis is preparing to launch a fourth effort to be released on bail after allegedly encouraging supporters to “rhetorically rape” a federal MP, a court has been told. Mr Davis, a former member of the now-disbanded National Socialist Network (NSN), has remained in custody in NSW since his arrest on November 20. He has been accused of using a carriage service to harass a federal parliamentarian after allegedly tweeting against Allegra Spender following her condemnation of a NSN rally outside state parliament. Mr Davis was due to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning on unrelated charges when the court was told an adjournment had been requested. Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano was told Mr Davis would be making a fresh application for bail in NSW, his fourth, on April 15. In Victoria, Mr Davis, alongside former NSN leader Thomas Sewell, 32, Nathan Bull, 24, and Timothy Lutze, 35, was charged after allegedly disrupting a pro-refugee demonstration in Docklands on October 22, 2024. All four accused men have been charged with offensive behaviour after a group of about 20 black-clad men allegedly interrupted a protest by Tamil asylum seekers outside the Department of Home Affairs calling for permanent visa protections. Mr Davis is also accused of inciting racial contempt after an alleged anti-Semitic stunt outside a Kew polling booth in the lead-up to the 2025 federal election. In court, Mr Lutze requested his matter be adjourned to seek legal advice and Mr Sewell and Mr Bull said they’d prefer to have their cases follow along with his. Mr Caltabiano agreed and the quartet will next face court on July 10. Outside court, Mr Sewell delivered an expletive-laden tirade against the media and was heckled by several passers-by.
