A man in his 70s has been airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital after a car accident along the South Western Highway on Saturday morning.

About 11am the man’s vehicle left the road just outside of Mullalyup while travelling northbound along the South Western Highway.

It is believed the man’s car collided with a post which required him to be forcibly removed from the vehicle by emergency crews.

He was airlifted by an RAC rescue helicopter to Royal Perth Hospital.

The man’s condition is currently unknown.
