Bridgetown Cricket Club recorded their fourth win in a row on the weekend defeating Pemberton by 132 runs at Bridgetown oval.

Pemberton won the toss and elected to bat first and after a conservative start the in-form Peter Bamess was bowled for 16 runs by veteran Simon Duncan.

Pemberton’s Brendan Peet(12) fought well at the top of the order but Brayden Watkins took the most unlikely of catches to record his first catch of the season.

Mitchell Clothier returned for the first time this season for Bridgetown taking the top figures 4/33 including the association’s leading run scorer Gary Mills for 12 runs.

Pemberton captain Riley Liddlelow top scored for the visitors with 28 runs.

After a 40-run partnership with John Starkie (18) Pemberton recovered to 3-93 before Darcy Walsh and Cloither produced wickets in consecutive overs.

David Meehan(24) and Tim Hutton(12) combined late in the innings to steer Pemberton to a competitive score of 160 runs.

In reply, Bridgetown began their run chase with fast runs to both Hugh Mitchell and James Mcalinden before Mcalinden was dismissed for 19 runs by Peet.

Bridgetown then produced its biggest partnership of the year of 142 runs off 79 balls between Mitchell and Brendan White.

Mitchell in his 100th game brought up a punishing 100 off just 49 balls delivering Bridgetown to a commanding win before falling for 101 runs to Liddelow.

White continued to push the score towards 200 before he was caught for 65 runs.

Bridgetown crossed 200 runs before completing the 20th over, however, Pemberton fought back taking an array of wickets to bowl Bridgetown out for 292 runs in the 39th over.

Liddelow finished with the best figures of 4/34 and was well supported by Starkie 3/18.

The win saw Bridgetown move into the top four for the first time this year as they pushed past Pemberton in fifth place.
