Man hospitalised after alleged attack during dispute at St Kilda dog park

A man has allegedly been slammed into the concrete and kicked repeatedly after getting into an argument with a woman at a Melbourne dog park.

The 47-year-old Elwood man was walking his dog at a dog park near Peanut Farm Reserve in St Kilda, just off Acland St, about 4.30pm on September 15 when the incident unfolded.

Police said a verbal dispute took place between the man and a woman about her dog’s behaviour.

A police spokeswoman said the woman then made a phone call and shortly after two men pulled up in a blue Holden Commodore.

The man fled the area carrying his dog and travelled along Blessington St but the Commodore followed him.

The police spokeswoman said the men got out of the car at the intersection of Barkly St and ran towards the man.

Police allege the man and his dog were thrown to the ground and one of the men punched the victim’s head into the concrete multiple times.

They allege the other man repeatedly kicked the victim in the ribs and stomach.

The dog was also hit but was not injured.

The alleged attack left the man with suspected concussion and broken ribs. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Police said the men got back into the car after the incident with the woman from the dog park and drove away.

On Monday, police released an image of two men they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.
