Perth’s newest millionaire will toast her good fortune at an iconic WA venue after winning big in a Lotto draw.
The punter, who hails from Perth’s southern suburbs, was the only winner in Western Australia for a major Millionaire Medley draw in early October.
The division one jackpot has left the lucky Sandgroper a million dollars richer — a jaw-dropping figure she has described as her perfect Goldilocks amount.
Speaking from the Lotterywest Winner’s Room, the woman in her 50s revealed she had misread her prize at first — thinking she had only scored a few hundred dollars from the game.
“The whole family was at home when I checked the app,” the punter said.
“At first, I had told my family I had won $315 — then I checked again and realised I had all the numbers on another line.
“I just went white with shock — we’d had some bad news a few years ago and it was the same reaction!”
The Perthian said she hopes the windfall would help alleviate some work stress for both her and her husband.
“I will keep working part-time because I love my job while for my husband, who has a small business, he won’t have to feel so pressured at work,” she said.
“This is happy money and a real blessing to know that we can pay off the mortgage and set our children up for the future.”
While most Lotto winners share big dreams of overseas holidays and luxury shopping sprees, the Perth woman said she would rather celebrate the jackpot with another WA icon.
The punter revealed she will be taking three generations of her family to Perth’s famous spinning venue C Restaurant before the 38-year-old eatery shuts in late January.
“We will celebrate with my parents and our children then, but for now we’re going to have a toastie and coffee on our way home,” she said.
The winning numbers from the Millionaire Medley draw were 24, 31, 22, 15, 29, 25 and the supplementaries were 26 and 36.
