McGinty stars up front for CBC in big win over YMHC

CBC last weekend made a big statement for the upcoming elimination final when Sam McGinty’s four goals powered a 9-2 demolition of YMHC in the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association’s men’s A1 division.

Ryan Connor, Slayde Coombs, Leium Bernhardt, Chris Connolly and Steven Trott completed the rout with a goal apiece for CBC who have locked down second place with two qualifying rounds left.

Also last weekend, Norths cruised to a 13th win in a 4-0 result against last-placed Pegasus.

Mines can nail down the other finals spot this weekend with a victory against Pegasus.

The blue-and-whites are two points clear of YMHC who have a bye.

* In the women’s A1 division last weekend, Mines and Norths battled to a hard-fought nil-all draw in an absorbing dress rehearsal for the elimination final.

Mines and Norths are second and third, respectively, with the latter 12 points clear of last-placed YMHC-Pegasus.

CBC are dominating the competition with a perfect 14 wins after they brushed aside YMHC-Pegasus, 8-0.

Last weekend’s men’s A2 fixtures saw YMHC edge out CBC, 4-3.

CBC had a short corner after the siren to potentially tie the game, but were unable to convert.

CBC and YMHC will square-off again in the upcoming elimination final for a chance to meet Norths in the grand final.
