Kalgoorlie Medical Imaging’s Lee Harris was “chuffed” to the point of speechlessness when she was recognised for her customer service skills this week.

Ms Harris was named the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Service Star for June after being nominated by a local client for the award.

Working at the front desk of the medical imaging practice for five years, Ms Harris said she and her fellow administration assistant were responsible for easing the nerves of anxious clients.

“The most important thing is to try and make people feel comfortable and help them understand what they need and what they are going to be doing,” she said.

“A lot of people come in and they don’t actually know what they need or they think that we do something we actually don’t, so we just help them work out where they need to go and what they need to do.”

Ms Harris said she also enjoyed sharing in the positive experiences of clients.

“The pregnancy scans are always the happy ones, you get to enjoy the excitement of everything which is lovely,” she said.

“We have lots of repeat patients, we have our pregnancy ladies who we quite often look after from start to finish.”

Ms Harris said good customer service was one of the most important aspects of a successful business.

“It is just nice to be nice to people,” she said.

“It doesn’t cost anything to be nice and the most important thing to me is to make sure that people are happy.”
