Man dies in Esperance hospital after being pulled from water in Wylie Bay

A 60-year-old man has died in hospital after being pulled from the water at Esperance’s Wylie Bay

Two ambulances and police responded to a call from Wylie Bay just before 5pm where the Kalgoorlie Miner understands a man was pulled from the water on the east side of the bay.

The man was treated on the sand for about 40 minutes before being rushed to hospital, but he could not be revived.

WA Police this morning confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious.

“At approximately 4:45pm Thursday, 24 September 2020, police were advised that a man was in the water near Second Rock Beach, near Wylie Bay Rock, Esperance,” a police spokesman said.

“The man (in his 60’s) was recovered from the water and conveyed by St John Ambulance personnel to Esperance Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
