Waroona show stalwart looking forward to displaying prized poultry with friendly competition

Waroona show stalwart Ken Landwehr is looking forward to showing off his prized poultry at the Waroona show this weekend. Mr Landwehr has been involved with the show since 1979, and has been a regular presenter at the Waroona Poultry Pavilion for the past 12 years when he first started looking after chickens. He said his is looking forward to having some of his birds on display competing against his mate Phil Jeffery in the feature bird of the show competition. “We’ll have a bit of friendly competition,” he said. Mr Landwehr said the show this year will feature 22 different awards, with several juniors divisions. He said any event which encourages young people to take part is a positive, and he is always keen to share the joys of looking after poultry with the community. “Looking after chickens is a lifestyle,” he said. “Chickens really can make you feel good, you given them a good home (and) they’ll stay with you for a long time.” “And, getting fresh eggs is always a bonus.”
