Tambellup Tennis Club held its annual open mixed doubles tournament on Saturday, with 34 players hitting the court in splendid conditions.

In some of the best weather ever seen for the event, it the first local open tennis tournament of the season for adults.

Four courts under lights were filled across the evening event, with players travelling from Tenterden, Cranbrook, Albany, Tambellup, Gnowangerup and Katanning to compete.

Five pairs contested the A-grade competition, with games played for 22 minutes to determine the winner.

Rachel Bowman and Nick Lockyer went through the event undefeated, while Stacey Hawkes and Sam Lehmann finished as runners-up.

B-grade was made up of two pools, with the winner of each pool playing off in a final.

Kylie Lockyer and Chris Tomlinson were able to walk away victorious over runners-up Liz Keegan and Josh Holmes.

Kendenup Tennis Club will hold its open mixed doubles tournament this Sunday, with play to take place from 8.30am.

Players will take part in A and B-grade round-robin competitions.
