Grand opening of Latitude Jewellers showcases revitalisation of heritage Old Mercantile Club building

A sparkling new addition to Geraldton’s retail and cultural landscape has been unveiled, with the grand opening of Latitude Jewellers’ showroom, atelier and art gallery. Moving only a few spots down the road, the new store has made its home within a beautifully and thoughtfully restored heritage building on Marine Terrace, once the old Mercantile Club. Founder and pearl farmer Pia Boschetti and her partner Murray Davidson bought the building last year and have opened up the upper level as an events space. On street level, the space brings together a stunning jewellery showroom, working atelier and permanent art exhibition of Flotsam and Jetsam pieces under one roof. The opening was celebrated across two events last weekend. First with a private cocktail evening, which welcomed family, long-standing clients and special guests into the space for the first time. That was followed by a public grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony the next day, where members of the community were invited to step inside and experience the transformation. The unveiling drew a strong turnout, highlighting the community’s enthusiasm for new experiences and the appetite to revitalise heritage spaces. The design of the new Latitude Jewellers is the work of Minted Elevated Living, with the result honouring the building’s heritage while creating a warm and welcoming environment that encourages customers to linger, explore and connect. Ms Boschetti said the opening was a celebration of not only the physical space, but the community that had supported the business over many years. “This space is about more than jewellery,” she said. “It’s about craftsmanship, creativity, and creating a place where people feel welcome and inspired.” The business has deep roots in Geraldton’s maritime community, with the Boschetti family also behind local fishing and seafood business, Latitude Fisheries, founded in 1964 by Ms Boschetti’s parents, Bert and Julie Boschetti.
