City of Greater Geraldton opens up next round of grant applications, as successful recipients are announced

A diverse mix of community groups have come out winners in the latest round of grants from the City of Greater Geraldton. The city has awarded more than $7000 to six sporting clubs, musical groups, or hobby societies in order to support local initiatives. The community support grants are open twice a year for requests up to $2000. Three sporting clubs, including Spalding Horse and Pony Club, Geraldton Combined Equestrian Club and Mullewa Bowling Club have secured funding for various programs and venue upgrades through the project support grants. A permanent main sign at Batavia Coast Miniature Railway Society, laptops and equipment for Geraldton City Band and a history book commemorating 60 years of the Geraldton Regional Hospital were also successful in the 2025-26 round of the Community Project Support program. It comes as the council announced applications for the next round of the Community Grants Program have opened, with the city offering up to $10,000 to not-for-profit organisations delivering community-focused projects. City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune has invited all community groups to apply. “The Community Grants Program is one of the city’s key initiatives to empower and support innovative projects and ideas in the Mid West,” he said. “Many groups have shown how this grant enables them to expand their activities making Geraldton a brighter place to live. “If your organisation could benefit from monetary assistance, I encourage you to apply for this funding opportunity.” Groups can have draft applications reviewed before Sunday, February 1. The final deadline is Friday, February 13.
