A tyre fire at a property south of Perth prompted a HAZMAT alert on Tuesday afternoon, with “plumes” of toxic smoke reported.
DFES issued a HAZMAT general warning for the area between Rapids Road, Utley Road, Polo Road and north of Wattle Road in Serpentine at 2.13pm.
The fire itself was burning at the intersection of Wattle Road and Rapids Road, located close to the Serpentine townsite.
“A HAZMAT fire at a property involving tyres is producing plumes of smoke in the area,” the warning read.
Firefighters have since extinguished the fire, and residents will “no longer be impacted” by smoke or fumes.
