Vandals are repeatedly throwing chemicals over cars in Perth’s northern suburbs, stripping the paintwork and infuriating locals who are reporting attacks several times a week.

More than a dozen cars in Butler have been damaged by the chemical, which residents have likened to paint stripper or brake fluid, after the first incident more than a year ago.

There have been reports of vandalism to cars on Itchen Loop, and visitors who park in the bays that border Marchwood Park.

Photos of the damage caused by the liquid, show the paint on several cars peeling off, which will result in expensive repairs.

On some vehicles, the paint appears to have bubbled and cracked.

Frustrated resident Chelsea told 6PR this morning that while the attacks were once limited to monthly occurrences and had only ever happened at night, the person behind the damage was becoming more brazen.

“It started moving to weekly, and not it’s happening in broad daylight and ... gone to three times a week,” she said.

“This is very, very calculated.”

She said there had been more than 12 cars damaged since she moved to the area last April.

Police confirmed they are investigating incidents in which a “solvent-based substance” has been poured over cars in Butler.
