About 18 months before the tragic fatal crash, Gard had ploughed into a tree stump near Toodyay, while he was under the influence of meth to such an extent he was incapable of controlling his vehicle.

When he was released from prison on parole in 2018, Gard was again caught speeding and led police on a high speed chase, before crashing the vehicle and running away.

Police found cash, meth, two stolen rifles and ammunition in the abandoned car wreck and Gard was jailed for another 14 months.

Police issued an appeal for information on Gard’s whereabouts last week, and revealed on Monday he had been found.
