Shocking details have emerged about the Mitchell Freeway crash which killed two people on Sunday evening. Police revealed a white Isuzu utility was driving south in the northbound lanes of the freeway when it collided with two other cars about 11.25pm. A 56-year-old woman driving a white Toyota Yaris hatchback was killed after her car was struck by the Isuzu, while the 24-year-old man behind the wheel of the Isuzu was taken to Joondalup Health Campus where he later died. A white MG MG4 hatchback was also involved in the collision, with two of its occupants receiving non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe the white Isuzu utility travelled the wrong way down a freeway exit before ending up in the northbound lanes, a short time before the collision. Police said the crash occurred near the Lukin Drive exit, but it’s unclear whether the vehicle had travelled down that exit. Officers from the major crash investigation section are working to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Shocking photos taken of the aftermath show what appears to be the front of the white Toyota hatchback extensively damaged. Debris from the cars involved were strewn across the freeway in the images.
