A Queensland woman, who told police she was coming to WA to attend the AFL grand final, has been charged for allegedly breaching COVID restrictions by failing to stay at her nominated hotel and self-isolate for two weeks.

The woman submitted a G2G application to enter the State on September 22, but was contacted by police prior to her departure and told she would be unable to attend the grand final as she would have to quarantine for a fortnight.

Despite the advice, the 29-year-old flew to Perth the same day, and was again reminded upon arrival that she was required to self-quarantine for 14 days at a specified hotel in East Perth.

It is alleged the woman failed to attend her nominated hotel accommodation and instead went to two other hotels with a male companion.

It is also alleged she did not wear a face mask, or tell the hotels that she was subject to COVID-19 quarantine.

Police say the woman failed also to declare to the hotel that she was subject to a self-quarantine direction, and that she was not wearing a face mask during this time.

The Queenslander was arrested later that night and charged with one count of failing to comply with a direction.

She was refused bail and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
