Chaos has erupted at the Bondi shooting memorial, as Pauline Hanson and Barnaby Joyce arrive to pay their respects. The crowd cheered and flocked around the pair as they made their way down to the sea of flowers outside the Bondi Pavillion. Members of the crowd shouted “we love you Pauline”, “get rid of Albanese”, and “Pauline for PM” pausing only when the senator stopped to lay flowers. Senator Hanson and Mr Joyce came face-to-face with the family of 10-year-old Matilda, who was among the 15 victims whose lives were taken on Sunday. They had laid flowers just minutes before, with Matilda’s grandmother breaking down into tears and holding onto her son, Matilda’s uncle, for strength. Speaking to locals in Bondi Barnaby Joyce and Pauline Hanson were ask to 'please do something' by local residents in Bondi. “This is the fault of Penny Wong and Albanese, they allowed this to manifest and happen, they allowed our people to get picked off like sitting ducks,” he said to the senator. Senator Hanson told the family and the crowd that she would “take their message back to parliament”. “I will not let this be forgotten what's happened here,” she said. “I will force the issue with the government and the Prime Minister and Penny Wong and the ministers. “Do something about this.” Mr Joyce said the government had to “weed out” those who believed in the ideology of the alleged shooters. “We have to remove it from the Australian society because it is not who we are,” he told the crowd. “There has to be that epiphany, that we have to do something about it, otherwise you are complicit.” ISIS flags, bombs in shooter’s car: cops Homemade ISIS flags and bombs were found in the car of one of the alleged Bondi shooters. NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon confirmed bombs and homemade ISIS flags were found in Naveed Akram’s car. Three bombs were found at the scene in the wake of the attack; it is unclear how many were retrieved from the car. The 24-year-old allegedly carried out the horror massacre at Bondi Beach alongside his father on Sunday evening. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it appeared the pair were inspired by ISIS. “A perversion of Islam is absolutely a problem,” Mr Albanese said.“It is something that has been identified globally as a problem as well. “ISIS has created an evil ideology that has been called out, not just by the Australian government but globally.” Mr Lanyon also confirmed the pair visited the Philippines before the massacre. “I can confirm that they did travel to the Philippines. The reasons why they went to the Philippines, and the purpose of that and where they went … is under investigation,” he said The Islamic State East Asia has a known presence in the Philippines. The country is ranked the 20th most dangerous nation in the world on the Global Terrorism Index. Minns defends cops NSW Premier Chris Minns has defended the actions of police amid growing criticism over their immediate response to the massacre. There have been allegations some of the responding officers froze as the attack unfolded. “There are two officers in critical care in NSW hospitals at the moment,” Mr Minns said. “They weren’t shot in the back … they were shot in the front. “I’m sorry to be graphic about it but if there is any suggestion that NSW police didn’t live up to their responsibilities to the people of this state it should be rejected because it is not consistent with the facts. “NSW Police officers, some of whom had been in the job for a number of months, put their lives on the line to save people in this state and I think this rush to conclusions before all the facts are known, in my view, is disrespectful to their actions.” Shooters embarked on ‘quest for a death tally’ The attack was described as a “barbaric” attack by Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett. “On Sunday, Jewish Australians were hunted down inbroad daylight at an iconic Australian beach,” Ms Barrett said. “The suspected murderers … appeared to have no regard for the age or ableness of their victims. It appears the alleged killers were interested only in a quest for a death tally.” Blood donation records smashed In a touching display of unity, the Sydney community has broken two national blood donation records in the wake of the massacre. Nearly 50,000 appointments were booked on Monday, which is more than double the previous record, a Red Cross spokesperson said. A total of 7.810 blood, plasma and platelets donations were made, also smashing the previous record. “With the festive season approaching, we’re now encouraging people to look at making an appointment over the coming weeks, as blood and plasma donations will continue to be needed between now and January 2,” a Red Cross spokesperson said. Albo slammed over handling of anti-Semitism John Howard earlier slammed the Prime Minister’s handling of growing anti-Semitism in Australia as he urges “sensible” tightening of gun laws. The former Prime Minister who brought in sweeping gun control laws in the wake of the Port Arthur massacre has said he does not believe the Albanese government has “effectively” combated anti-Semitism in Australia. “ … if it's the first responsibility of a prime minister to ensure that the citizens of his or her country feel safe, secure and wanted, he’s failed the Jewish people immensely,” he said on Sky News. Mr Howard said that he wanted to see the “fair” tightening of gun laws across the nation. “I want them to tighten them where sensible tightening can occur,” he. “As for specific changes to gun laws, I don't want them to become a diversion, an excuse, and that’s the fear I have.” Mr Howard also told ABC News that the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were clearly not the people to blame for the murders. “But why didn’t Penny Wong visit those areas of Israel that had been most directly assaulted by Hamas when she was there?” he said on Tuesday. Mr Howard said he is “ashamed” that Australia’s relationship with Israel has broken down. “Israel has been an ally of Australia and I remember on my very first visit to Israel way back in the 1960s, of talking to people in a hotel in Aviv about the contribution of Australians at Bathsheba and the recollection they had of the people of Palestine,” he said. Mr Howard’s comments come as the Israeli Ambassador claims Jewish Australians are feeling increasingly ostracised in practising their faith and branded the experience “insane”, in the wake of the Bondi terror attack. “My heart is torn apart because the Jewish community, the Australians of Jewish faith, the Jewish community is also my community, my people, the people that were brutally murdered, here are people that I’ve known, I’ve met,” he told a crowd, speaking at Bondi Beach. He claimed: “The only community that is in need to go through security, in order to exercise their right to worship their God, is the Jewish community.” “I don’t know the last time that you visited a temple, a church or a mosque (but) the doors are open. “Only the Jewish, the Australians of Jewish faith, are forced to worship their gods behind closed doors, CCTV, guards. It’s insane. This is really insane.” He had just returned from Israel, he said, where the “terrible news” had dominated headlines. ‘Difficult’: Burke responds to backlash Earlier, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has acknowledged the enormous grief in the Jewish community after being brutally heckled at an evening vigil following the Bondi terror attack. Horrific scenes unfolded at the Jewish Chanukah By The Sea event at the iconic Aussie destination on Sunday night when father and son gunmen Sajid and Naveed Akram allegedly opened fire on bystanders at Bondi Beach. Sajid, 50, was shot dead by police, while Naveed, 24, was injured and taken into custody. The death toll from the attack has risen to 15 innocent victims, with a 10-year-old girl among those killed. Mr Burke and Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett were heckled by a group of people who screamed “shame on you” and “blood on your hands” as they followed them out of a vigil on Monday evening. Asked about the comments, Mr Burke did not condemn them, instead telling the ABC that emotions are still “very raw”. “We spent a bit of time just very quietly talking to some of the people (at the vigil),” he said on Tuesday. “As I left, there were a couple of people who followed me out with the comments that you have heard there. “But people are grieving. This is a horrifically difficult time. “And you know, understandably, people are angry, and I understand that completely.” Mr Burke later confirmed 16 visas for family members to attend the funerals of victims in Australia were being processed by Home Affairs on an streamlined basis as promised by his office. Strong laws, police response ‘on the way’ Mr Minns has confirmed the Bondi terror attacks will be met with a “massive police and public order response”. In a statement, Mr Minns assured Australians that authorities would act on the outrage in the wake of the “evil” act. “This is not a time for sympathetic words. It’s a time for strong laws and overwhelming police enforcement. Both are on the way,” he said. “Australia has always prided itself on being different to the places from which Jewish people have fled throughout history. “We have been a safe haven. A country where Jewish people could live their lives in peace. Where they could express their identity proudly, openly, in a place like Bondi Beach.” By targeting Jewish Australians, the “cowardly” terrorist attack had attacked the Australian way of life, Mr Minns said. “I can promise you we will be doing everything in our power, with every resource at our disposal, to destroy the cancer of anti-Semitism and ensure the safety of Jewish people in this country,” he said. Previously, Mr Minns said the state’s gun laws needed to change, and he planned to introduce legislation to make it “more difficult to get these horrifying weapons that have no practical use in our community”. NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloan also supported parliament reconvening over summer to fast-track any necessary legislation in the wake of the attack. ‘Extraordinary’ courage A man who rushed one of the wounded gunman, and was later mistakenly shot at by police, is a Middle Eastern refugee who showed “extraordinary courage”, his immigration lawyer says. The man approached the gunman – who had collapsed on the floor – and kicked away the weapon. He raises his hands in the air, saying ‘don’t shoot’, before members of the public mistake him for the attacker and begin kicking him. Eventually, he is released by both the police and community members after the confusion. His lawyer, Alison Battisson, told NewsWire the unarmed man ran towards the gunshots because of a “gut reaction”. “He stepped out of a car, a taxi, heard the shots and just ran, it was a gut reaction,” she said. “Having a military background, he assumed the shooter had to reload, so he didn’t blindly run towards him but waited for the right time.” The “quite extraordinary” man – whose identity has been withheld for his safety – escaped the authoritative regime of his country of origin, where he was tortured for standing up against the government, Ms Battisson said. He was recognised by the UNHCR as a refugee and came to Australia a decade ago. His pregnant wife and two children are all Australian citizens, but he still lives in the country on a temporary visa. “He cried all Sunday night,” Ms Battisson said. Under the new laws, state police ministers and Attorneys-General will be commissioned to develop options to limit the number of firearms that can be held by any one individual. Three patients are in a stable condition at Prince of Wales Hospital. One patient is in a critical condition, and two patients are in a stable condition at St George Hospital. One patient is in a stable condition at Sydney Eye Hospital. Three patients are in a critical condition and two patients are in a critical but stable condition at St Vincent’s Hospital. Earlier on Monday, police confirmed a 10-year-old girl was among those killed. Probationary Constable Jack Hibbert and constable Scott Dyson were both injured responding to the attack, with 9News reporting that Constable Hibbert may lose vision in his eye. Both remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition. “The families of the two injured officers wish to pass on their thoughts to the loved ones of those who were killed and injured in the Bondi shooting tragedy,” the families of both officers said in a statement, issued by NSW Police. “They also want to express their heartfelt gratitude to all first responders who acted with courage, in particular the police officers and paramedics who responded.
