There will be plenty on for the Busselton community later this month as part of National Volunteer Week.

The Busselton Dunsborough Volunteer Centre will hold a range of workshops, training sessions, networking and celebration activities from May 20-26.

Centre manager Carl Holroyd said the week was a chance for the community to celebrate and recognise the vital work of volunteers, and to thank them.

“Thousands of people each year access, and rely on, critical services run by volunteer-involving organisations,” he said.

“Some of these are large visible organisations, and others are small, dedicated service and support groups run completely by volunteers.

“Regardless of who they volunteer with or how they volunteer, volunteers make a huge difference to people’s lives, and often are the bringers of positive change both in organisations and for people relying on their services, care and compassion.”

Commemorations start on Monday May 20 with a sundowner where nominated volunteers will be recognised before a series of free workshops on Tuesday May 21, with the sessions covering topics including grants and social media essentials.

On Wednesday May 22, Mitchell Park will host an Organisations Expo from 10am-2pm for community members to get involved.

The week will wrap up with two workshops on Thursday May 23 starting at 10am about marketing volunteering to younger generations and social media content creation.
