Dramatic footage has captured the moment a passenger plane was forced to abandon its landing at Perth Airport on Saturday in a scary near-miss.

The video, shared on social media, shows the Singapore Airlines aircraft approaching the runway under dark, cloudy skies before the plane starts dramatically tilting, bringing one wing alarmingly close to the ground.

The pilots then abandon the landing attempt, with footage and flight-tracking data for flight SQ213 showing the Airbus A350-900 climbing back into the sky.

The footage was shared on Facebook by Chris Perry, who claimed his sister was on board the flight.

“My sister’s plane almost crashes on landing,” he captioned the video alongside a shocked emoji.

Mr Perry also suggested high winds at Perth Airport had played a role in the aborted landing but said the plane was successful on its second attempt.

A Singapore Airlines spokesperson said “the flight experienced strong winds on approach into Perth International Airport. As a result, the pilots decided to conduct a go-around”.

“The Airbus A350-900 aircraft landed safely at 1230hrs (local time) and taxied to the gate.

“The safety of our customers and crew is SIA’s top priority.”

Weather data shows wind speeds reached 32km/h when the plane was landing.

Known in aviation as a “go-around”, the manoeuvre is a standard safety procedure used when pilots determine that a landing should not proceed.

It is not known how many passengers were on board or if any were injured during the unsuccessful landing.
