Trish Hines recognised as Netball WA’s Volunteer of the Year for outstanding contribution to the sport

Albany Netball Association president Trish Hines has won a top Netball WA award at their gala awards night on Saturday.

Hines received the Netball WA Volunteer of the Year Award for her outstanding contribution to the sport both locally and Statewide.

She has been the ANA president for the past six years and is also president of the Great Southern Netball Association.

Hines is engaged and highly regarded within her association and the wider community, and she has driven a more professional and streamlined approach to the management of the ANA while ensuring all committee members and delegates feel valued in their roles.

She is also heavily involved in representative teams and with her local club, Kangas.

Hines has helped revamp the governance of the ANA and led from the front when dealing with COVID-19.

Adding to that she regularly attends Zoom meetings with Netball WA and ensures her association and its clubs have the relevant information needed to participate.

A passionate netball person who spends the majority of her week involved in the sport, Hines was commended for her ability to provide leadership and direction for her fellow committee members.

She was nominated for the award by the ANA but was not in attendance on the night to accept it.

“It was very unexpected and I feel very honoured to receive recognition from Netball WA,” Hines said.

“There are lots of people who give a lot to netball so I feel quite humble.

I have always played netball and I have coached for many years, I believe it is my responsibility to give back to the sport that I love.

“I am surrounded by a fantastic committee who are very passionate about what they do so they make my job very easy.”
