Spudshed is set to open its first Albany branch as early as next year, with spud king Tony Galati confirming the long-held rumours last week.

Speaking to Robbie and Carly on Triple M breakfast last Thursday, Mr Galati announced plans to expand Spudshed’s regional network to include new stores in Albany and Geraldton.

“We will be in Albany and Geraldton in the near future,” he said.

When pressed further about an exact date, Mr Galati responded: “Not an exact date, but we’ll be there soon . . . next year, yep.”

“I’ll be around everywhere, around the farms and warehouses and shops, I’ve been pretty busy actually,” he said.

Alongside the bushy eyebrows and trademark attire of its famous founder, the independent supermarket is known for its extended operating hours, with 15 of its 19 stores across the State open 24/7.

Mr Galati first flagged Albany, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie branches of the WA-grown supermarket in 2018, with hopes to open in 2020.

The Kalgoorlie store opened its doors on November 20 this year, marking the third Spudshed to open in the regions after Bunbury and Australind.

The first Spudshed store opened 27 years ago in Baldivis.
