Works on the Shire of Plantagenet’s Tower Hill tourism project are progressing through the first stages with the walk trail expected to be complete by spring.

The Shire made a public announcement that construction would take place at the hill in the coming weeks, including the construction of a universal access walking path from the Rotary lookout to the track south of the tower.

The first phase of the walk trail — a raised boardwalk — now has footings installed ready for the main structure to be lifted in by crane when the weather allows.

Shire strategic development manager Andrus Budrikis said works had been delayed due to wet weather.

“We plan to open it straight after construction completion.”

He said there was a wait for funding for the next phases.

“We are looking at construction of the carpark in the current financial year,” he said. “We have submitted a funding application to Building Better Regions Fund round five through Outdoors Great Southern.”
