Frankland River’s finest wines and local flavours will take centre stage at a festival putting the region’s producers, food and country hospitality in the spotlight on Saturday.

The Frankland River Wine Festival will bring together six wineries, about 300 guests, a feature chef and a series of curated experiences designed to showcase the people and produce that make the Great Southern special.

The festival will feature wines from Swinney, Cherubino, Frankland Estate, Ferngrove, Alkoomi and Lange Estate, giving visitors the chance to discover the local varieties and connect with the people behind them.

Frankland River Wine Association president Chelsea Lange said the festival brings people together and offers something different with themed zones exploring the different connections between wine, food and senses.

“It’s about bringing the community together, showcasing our wines and our local produce from the region,” she said.

“We are trying to do something a little bit different in a non-traditional set up with zones.

“So we have zones throughout highlighting certain wines and how they can be integrated with the rest of the community and how they pair with foods.

“We talk about some sensory components like aroma, texture, flavour and then we have a signature community table at the end with a bar and a bit of relaxing and kids activities.”

Ms Lange said working alongside the participating wineries had been a highlight of organising the event, with the collaboration helping bring the festival to life.

“It’s been great all working together — it’s better to work as one than trying to do it yourself so it’s been fantastic,” she said.

Ms Lange said she hoped visitors would embrace the experience and enjoy what the region had to offer.

“We’re just hoping that everyone comes down and enjoys what we are offering,” she said

“We are hoping that everyone comes with an open mind and enjoys some wines, has a good time and enjoys some local produce.”

The festival will take place at the Frankland River Oval from 12pm until 7pm on Saturday.
