Albany bands will come together this weekend for a fundraising concert for Albany Community Hospice in honour of late Albany musician Dave Morrison.

The week marks one year since Morrison’s death, and his son Wade has created Davestock to raise funds for the local hospice which cared for his father in his final moments.

His father was a well-known local musician and a popular figure in Albany’s music industry who played in various bands over the years. Wade’s band Tre Amici — which his father also played in — will hit the stage in a line-up of several local acts including Dig the Dust, Trash Pandah, The Dave Price Project, The Numbats, Kelly’s Head, and Louise Morrison.

Wade said with the bands and venue joining the cause free of charge, all profits would go directly to the hospice.

“The people at the hospice looked after my father really well,” he said.

“Everybody sees the events that are put on for hospice, but until you have had a loved one or friend in there, you don’t actually see all the good work that they do.

“It is really an amazing place and gave us some amazing time with my dad before he passed.” Wade said he hoped to make the concert an annual event.

“It has been a whole year without Dad and this is something really positive to mark the occasion,” he said.

Davestock will start at 6pm on Saturday at Retravision Stadium. Tickets are available for $15 at the venue or at eventbrite.com.au.
