Hundreds of people from the State’s corporate and political space gathered for a morning of essential discussions around combating family and domestic violence.

The Crown Ballroom was packed with some of WA’s prominent cabinet ministers and advocates for domestic violence.

They delved into sombre and moving conversations.

In a powerful address that ended in a standing ovation, Bunbury-born Noongar woman Courtney Ugle shared her experience growing up in an environment where FDV was “common and normalised”.

Fifteen WA women have died at the hands of abusive current or former partners since the start of the year, including a string of high-profile cases such as Georgia Lyall, murdered by Luke Noormets in July, and lawyer Alice McShera who died late last month at Crown Towers of serious head injuries allegedly inflicted by Cameron Pearson.
