VideoAustralia faces a severe housing crisis as home ownership becomes increasingly unattainable for millions.

The MSWA Lottery Home in Marmion has turned out to be the gift that keeps on giving.

The home not only helped MSWA raise millions of dollars for people living with multiple sclerosis, but it was also a windfall for a humble couple from suburban Success.

Sanju and Sweety and their three children won the $4.25 million home in May last year, along with $100,000 in cash.

But the gift did not stop giving.

Like most winners, the pair were confronted with the age-old question of whether to live in the house or sell it and use the funds for other things.

The pair decided to sell, last month getting $4.899 million for the mansion after selling through property agent Jason Jowett, which added a further $649,000 to the original windfall.

It took their total winnings to $5 million.

The pair last year said in an interview that when officials from MSWA called to say they had won the luxury home, they thought it was a prank phone call.

While Sanju, who took the call, eventually came to believe the caller, Sweety, a nurse educator, remained in disbelief until she checked details of the winning lottery ticket online.

Sanju, a mechanical engineer who hails from India, said in the same interview last year that he had never expected to win, and had not even kept tabs on when the draw would take place.

“I came to Australia in 2019,” he said. “From 2020 I was buying these tickets . . . more of a way to give back to society in some small way.”

The stunning four bedroom, four bathroom beachfront home has a panoramic ocean views to Rottnest Island and Hillarys.

Described in the listing advert as having “every conceivable bell and whistle”, the double-storey home is connected by a lift, and includes extra height doors and ceilings and oversized windows.

The kitchen has stone benchtops, Smeg appliance and a scullery with two side-by-side double-door pantries and a separate walk-in pantry.

The ground level includes a glass-door wine cellar, a laundry with access to a drying-court, CCTV security, and shopper’s entry.

The property includes a two car garage and sits on a 528sqm block.

Perhaps the most luxurious feature is the beachfront pool, which wraps around the front of the house, alongside an entertainer’s desk.

No doubt the new owners will enjoy sunset swims in the home that keeps on giving.
